North Cumbria & the Borders Region Report July 2018
The motoring year is now in full swing, our first car show of 2018 was down at the Westmorland County Showground near Kendal. We had nine TVRs on display and it was great to have Paul Calland and Richard Sails join us. We fielded 3 Griffs, 3 Chimaeras, a Tuscan, a Tamora and Paul’s lovely (and rare) S4c.
Colin’s Mercedes and Andy’s VW bus also drew a number of admirers and we managed to get the event shelter and banners up without too much drama! The weather was perfect and there were some amazing cars on show. The next big show for us is at Dalemain (near Penrith) in August, get in touch if you’d like to join in.
Bronwen and I had a great weekend with the Sporting Bears Motor Club on their ‘non-competitive’ touring event based at Ravenstonedale (Kirkby Stephen). The theme was ‘V for Victory’ (celebrating 100 years of the RAF) so suitable decals just had to be applied. Unusually , we were the only TVR on the tour, glad to say our car never missed a beat all weekend (more than can be said for driver and navigator!)
We’re now gearing up for two Scottish trips with the region - one Sunday run up to Moniaive and then a weekend up to Tarbet/Stonefield Castle - full report and pics next month
It was nice to welcome a new member at the May club night - Ray Fisher has just purchased a V8S and we’re looking forward to seeing it in the flesh very soon, A few of us enjoyed a short run prior to the meeting at Hundith Hill. After almost three weeks of dry sunny weather we managed to get mist and rain but we still had fun
